Subscription and Refund Policy
How RuleGate paid plans renew, change, cancel, and handle billing or refund requests.
Plans and billing intervals
RuleGate offers a Free plan and may offer paid Starter and Pro plans. Paid plans can be monthly or annual. The selected plan, interval, price, currency, and taxes are shown before confirmation in Stripe-hosted Checkout.
- Monthly subscriptions are billed and renew monthly.
- Annual subscriptions are billed upfront and renew annually.
- Taxes may apply at checkout based on the transaction and information available to Stripe.
- Available payment methods are controlled by Stripe and may vary by location.
- RuleGate does not store full card details.
If Stripe Managed Payments or another merchant-of-record arrangement is presented in checkout, the checkout will identify the relevant seller/payment role and applicable terms. RuleGate does not claim that arrangement unless Stripe actually presents it for the transaction.
Recurring billing and renewal
Paid subscriptions renew automatically on the renewal date until canceled. By subscribing, you authorize Stripe to charge the stored payment method for recurring fees and applicable taxes. The Customer Portal provides current billing status, invoices where available, and subscription controls.
Failed payments and grace access
Stripe may retry failed payments. RuleGate may temporarily keep the last paid tier available during a short past-due or retry state, but may restrict access if payment is not resolved. A failed payment does not create a promise of indefinite access.
Cancellation
You can cancel a managed subscription through Stripe Customer Portal from Settings. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period, and paid access continues until that date unless the portal clearly states otherwise.
Canceling renewal does not automatically delete a RuleGate account or journal data. Account deletion is a separate privacy request.
Upgrades, downgrades, and prorations
Plan changes are handled through Stripe Checkout or Customer Portal. Any immediate charge, credit, proration, timing change, or next invoice amount should be shown before confirmation. If a plan change cannot be completed in the portal, contact billing support before creating a second subscription.
Complimentary and beta access
Complimentary/manual access and beta access are not paid subscriptions. They may be time-limited, revoked for misuse, or changed as testing ends. Users with complimentary access should not receive misleading renewal or payment warnings unless a separate Stripe subscription exists.
Refund requests
RuleGate does not apply a categorical no-refunds rule. Refund requests are assessed in light of the purchase, service delivery, duplicate charges, material interruption, applicable law, and Stripe transaction state.
- For a duplicate charge, contact billing support with the invoice or receipt reference.
- For a material service interruption, describe the affected dates and feature.
- For another refund request, explain the reason and purchase date.
- Do not open a second subscription to resolve an existing billing issue.
Send requests through Billing and subscriptions or support@rulegate.app. A request does not guarantee a refund where one is not legally required.
EU consumer withdrawal rights
Consumers in the European Union may have a statutory withdrawal right for distance contracts, subject to legal conditions and exceptions. The treatment of a digital service that begins immediately may depend on the consumer's express request, acknowledgement, the extent of performance, and applicable law.
RuleGate will not rely on a waiver or exception that was not presented and lawfully obtained. Until the production checkout flow expressly implements any immediate-performance acknowledgement, contact billing support promptly if you want to exercise a statutory right. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
Billing records and account deletion
Resolve an active subscription before account deletion to avoid orphaned recurring billing. Deleting an account may remove journal and product data, but limited transaction, invoice, fraud, consent, and audit records may be retained where required for accounting, disputes, security, or legal compliance.
Billing contact
Use the Contact page and select Billing and subscriptions. Include the account email and a Stripe invoice, receipt, or subscription reference where available, but never send full card details.
